Privacy policy
We collect as little as we can, only to provide the service you ask for, and we don't sell your information.
What stays on your device
- Assistance screener answers are processed in your browser to show results. They aren't sent to GetSetKeys.
- Your readiness checklist and preparation list are saved in your browser's local storage on that device only. Clearing your browser data removes them. We have no account system, and nothing is saved to a cloud database.
What we receive
- Forms you submit (home search requests, partner applications, contact messages): the details you enter, such as your name, email, optional phone, search criteria and message. We use them only to respond to your request.
- Anonymous usage counts: when you load a page or take key actions (for example, opening a program's official website, finishing the screener or sending a request), your browser sends us the event name, the page path, and a program name where relevant. We count these per day to improve the site. We don't use cookies, advertising trackers, fingerprinting or cross-site tracking, and these counts aren't linked to you.
- Abuse prevention: to limit spam, we store a one-way salted hash of the network address with each form submission. We don't store the address itself.
- Hosting: our site runs on Cloudflare, which processes standard request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and secure the site.
Address checks
When you use "Check an address," the address is sent through our server to the U.S. Census Bureau's public geocoding service to look up the city and county. We don't store the address.
What we never ask for
Our tools never ask for Social Security numbers, bank or credit card account numbers, tax returns, exact account balances or credit reports. Please don't include them in messages.
How we share information
We don't sell or rent personal information. We share your details with another organization, such as a housing counselor, lender or licensed real estate professional, only when you ask us to, after telling you who they are and about any referral relationship. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Retention
We keep form submissions as long as needed to respond and follow up, and no longer than 24 months unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Anonymous usage counts are kept in aggregate.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information you've submitted by using the contact form and choosing "Privacy request." We'll respond within 30 days.
Children
GetSetKeys is meant for adults and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above and describe significant changes on this page.
